I kissed church goodbye
I am done with church. I cannot see, how we could “renew” the church. From my point of view all renewal “movements” typically end up at least at 2 points: 1. They loose their energy and end up being a para-church organisation organizing Seminars, Festivals etc., or 2. they become a new denomination for them self. My Question is, if it is really important to renew the church? To renew a system implies that it has to remain. But why? The focus is on the system. Is that helpful? If I see it right, we are called to be followers of Christ. As followers we share our discipleship with others. The “place” where we follow Christ is creation. In our discipleship we invite others to start to walk with Jesus aswell. By doing so, there is the possibilty that a movement takes off. How is this movement structured or organized? Only through relationships of trust. In this I think it is important to clarify whether ecclesia IS church or whether ecclesia are the people, those who are called to follow Jesus, who organize them self in/as church. And that is probably the point where the problem starts. If ecclesia is the description for the people who are called, then why they have to organize themself in a thing that we call church? I am convinced more than ever, that it is only about a people who follow Christ in all of creation. Thats it! Do they join together? Yes of course! Are there projects for the community? I hope so. But what is the legitimation for that? What is the reason to live like that? It is friendship with one another and with the big friend. It is very easy isn’t it?

That’s what I’m wondering as well … now that we’re here … up North … with no suitable church around … but a couple of cool folks who might end up becoming our church. So maybe we’ll be pioneers soon planting a church ourself. Maybe. Maybe not. God knows!
Blessings! Nicole

I believe I did. But I guess my wording was a little off. Let’s not call it church. Let’s call it … well, no idea … a union of J-fans walking this planet enjoying life and hopefully putting a mark on the folks around? As I said: no idea. I guess it gets worse by the minute. Therefore: bye! Nicole
